Simulation, Tool Design & Development

ABI has an excellent team and infrastructure to support its tooling requirements for both its casting and machining divisions. The in-house tool manufacturing facility helps ABI to

  • Shorten turnaround for tool modification

Casting Design

ABI has an experienced MSE [Manufacturing System Engineering] Team. This team handles ABI’s design study and manufacturing engineering requirements.

ABI design office is equipped with

  • Designing Tools – Pro-E, AutoCAD and Unigraphics
  • Simulation software – MAGMA soft and Procast
  • Virtual Machining Software – Vericut

Tool Room

The tool room is equipped with a Die casting machine, Hotbox Core shooter, Melting/Holding Furnaces and Slitting Saw. The moulds are machined in the Vertical Machining Centre based on the NC program. Sharp features are achieved using the Electrode Discharge Machining unit. The accessories are made using the Turning center and Radial drill. The components are checked using CMM.

Die management

The dies are duly identified with customer name and part number and stored in racks with rollers for easy retrieval. Dry Ice / blasting of beads are methods used for cleaning of the dies and a fresh coating is provided after heating them in an electrical oven.

Machining

ABI has the ability to design their own tools / jigs / fixtures. The Tool Room is equipped with CNC milling machines / grinding machines / heat treatment and fitting facilities. In addition, the tool room is equipped with 5-Axis and 6-axis CNC tool and Cutter grinder for manufacture of cutting tools.

Tool making

Capability to make in-house advance tools / Jigs / fixture with 5axis and 6axis machines.

Casting - Post Processing

Welding

  • Laser welding of Plasma Nitrided Steel / Inconel joints
  • Electron Beam welding of Inconel and MAR Rotors and 42CrMo shafts

Part Cleanliness

  • Ensuring Best in Class standard part cleanliness through Aqueous based or Regenerative type Solvent based ultrasonic high-pressure washers

Special Process - Aerospace

ABI ensures upon meeting various special process requirement of customers for investment casting and machined parts. ABI has inhouse facility to support the following special process with NADCAP certification.
